On this tour you will visit the salty part of Lake Balkhash, the Kalashnikov Museum, as well as a network of salty healing lakes called Paradise Lakes (Lake Raikhan-Ana).
Lake Balkhash is a closed lake, the western part of which is fresh, and the eastern part is salty. Balkhash is the second largest perennial Salt Lake (after the Caspian Sea) and 14th on the list of the largest lakes in the world. The lake is divided by a narrow peninsula into two parts with different chemical characteristics of water, and at the same time, fresh and salt water in the lake do not mix at all. We will visit the lake from its eastern side, where we will set up a tent camp on the shore and spend the night. At the end of the first day and at the beginning of the second, swimming in the lake is provided!
On the second day we head to the Paradise Lakes through the Saryesik-Atyrau desert. Along the way we will visit the Matai station, where the same Mikhail Kalashnikov invented his first machine gun. At the railway depot we will visit a small museum in which the memory of those events is immortalized. In the afternoon we will arrive at the Paradise Healing Lakes. Paradise Lakes is a network of fresh and salt lakes in the middle of the treacherous Saryesik-Atyrau desert. They are called heavenly after the name of the woman healer Raikhan-Ana (Ryan), who, according to local residents, was cured of leprosy by bathing in these lakes. We will set up a tent camp on the shore of the main lake and spend the night.
