A special feature of the tour is the opportunity to discover both the landscape and climatic diversity of Kazakhstan’s nature in a few days. In 2 days, we will visit both the arid steppe and the Swiss alpine meadows.
The program of the first day of our jeep tour begins with driving along the bottom of the ancient sea - the Sogety Valley. On the way to the lake Kaindy, we will overcome the Kokpek and Alasa passes, and also see the volcanic mountains Toraigyr (wild stallion from kazakh) and Boguty.
From the Kazakh language “Kaindy” is translated as “birchy”. To make sure whether the name of the area matches, we will visit the largest birch grove in the Northern Tien Shan.
Driving a little further from the grove, you will enjoy the beauty and splendor of Lake Kaindy. The history of the formation of the lake relates to the earthquake in Verny that occurred in the early 1920s. At that time, the gorge was flooded with water, a lake was formed, but the spruce trees that grew in it did not die but remained standing as eternal guards of the lake.
At the end of the day, we move through the picturesque Kolsay National Park closer to the Kolsay Lakes. The tourist is given a choice of accommodation for the night: a hotel/guest house in the village of Saty, or a tent camp.
On the second day of the tour, the pearl of the entire Tien Shan awaits us - the Kolsay Lakes. We will climb in jeeps to the ridge closest to the first lake, from where a magnificent panorama of Lake Kolsay opens. Then we will go down and walk around the lake.
Next, we will go back to Almaty; on the way to the city we will again feel the natural contrast, visiting the younger brother of the Grand Canyon - the Valley of Castles of the Charyn Canyon.
Note: A jeep tour to lakes Kolsay and Kaindy can consist of 3 full days. On the third day, a 3-hour walk is added to the second lake Kolsay (Mynzhilki).
