The Passage gorge is one of the most picturesque and closest to the city of Almaty. During the Soviet Union, many trails were built that allowed one to descend into the Chon Kimin valley in Kyrgyzstan, which is why the gorge earned its name. Now, due to the new border zone policy, the gorge is not so popular, but it still pleases the eyes of tourists at any time of the year.
In the morning we move up Navoi Street, enjoying the beauty of the Trans-Ili Alatau. The walking part of the route starts from the Alma-Arasan sanatorium and goes along the bed of the Passage River. The trail is well-maintained and climbing it is not difficult.
After about a half-hour climb, we will find ourselves at the hot radon springs, where we can take healing baths. Having had a snack with a magnificent view and having walked around a lot, we begin our descent down. On the way back, the program also includes a visit to a specially organized falcon show.
